Congratulations to recipient of the 2008 Charlotte Wise Kasie Capling Scholarship!

 

Charlotte, NC Monique Jones, graduate of Garinger New Technology High School in Charlotte is the recipient of the 2008 Kasie Capling Memorial Scholarship. Jones plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the fall where she is looking to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a certificate in Game Design and Development. 

 

A FACS Programming Intern with Wachovia, Jones is currently taking online courses at UNC-Greensboro and Central Piedmont Community College to get an early start on her college career. She received the $2,000 scholarship presented by NCTA’s Education Foundation and a laptop, donated by Bank of America at the recent WISE June meeting at Byron’s South End in Charlotte, where she also had the chance to meet members of Kasie’s family.   

 

The Kasie Capling Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Kasie Capling, NCTA Charlotte WISE Steering Committee Member, who unexpectedly passed away in August 2005.  The scholarship was established to continue Kasie’s legacy of helping foster careers of individuals in the fields of Information Technology and Engineering. 

 

The Kasie Capling Memorial Scholarship is presented to one female senior from Mecklenburg County who excels in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and will be attending college to continue her education.
